Tell us a little about your business. What do you offer, and what makes it unique?

BBQ Fiends is a Tex-Mex Craft BBQ food truck that specializes in South Texas inspired BBQ and sides. Everything on our menu is handmade down to our pickled onions, pickles, and flour tortillas.

How did your journey as a business owner begin? What inspired you to get started?  

We launched BBQ fiends during the beginning of the pandemic. I was working in healthcare and was sidelined from my job so I began cooking and trying to recreate my grandmother’s recipes. I fell in love with cooking and decided I would like to try my hand in the food industry. It’s been an amazing journey so far! 

How long have you been in business, and why did you choose Hutto as your home base? 

BBQ Fiends launched in 2020 but did not start serving to the public till 2021. Our food truck was doing pop-up events at local breweries in the area until we stumbled upon Rockabilly Brewing in Hutto. We liked the feel of the city and we felt the city needed a craft BBQ spot. We decided to plant roots here and it has been a great experience for us. 

What’s been one of your most memorable moments as a business owner?

Making the Texas Monthly Top 21 BBQ Bites of 2024 was a huge memorable moment in the history of our business. Texas Monthly had just published a feature article on us a few months prior which we were very proud of. We weren’t expecting to make the Top BBQ Bites list so it caught us off guard and was really exciting for our team once we saw it come out.

What do you think makes the Hutto community special? 

We have been accepted with open arms in Hutto. The community has been very friendly and we are happy to be serving everyone here.

What advice would you give to someone just starting a business here? 

Network with the community and other business owners. It helps everyone get their name out to a wider audience in the area. Plus it’s good to have more friends in the community!

When you're not working, where can we find you around town? (Favorite coffee, food, or hangout spots?)

I rarely go out anymore when I’m not working but I definitely want to visit Jack Allen’s Kitchen very soon.

Anything exciting coming up you'd like the community to know about?

Be on the lookout for more of a variety of specials hitting our menu soon. We are actively working on lots of new dishes and look forward to sharing them with you all!
